Fujimoto Flyer made an impressive start over jumps when running out a very easy winner of the Francie Sheehan's Bar 3-Y-O Hurdle at Killarney this afternoon.
The Emmet Mullins-trained filly had been placed twice on the Flat and was sent off 3/1 second favourite on her hurdling bow this afternoon.
Danny Mullins took closer order over the third last on the Japanese-bred daughter of Admire Moon and she jumped into the lead at the penultimate flight.
Fujimoto Flyer scooted clear before the final flight and cruised home on the run-in to record a commanding 18 length win over 4/5 favourite Harvest Bow
"She schooled brilliantly all year and has always taken to it really well,” said the winning trainer.
"I've had her entered up in Roscommon and Ballinrobe and withdrew her both days because of the ground and said to myself coming down here 'I'm an eejit' because I shouldn't be running. But we had to get the show on the road and we were delighted.
"It was definitely a surprise (to win so far) but she had been jumping brilliantly at home and has a lovely bit of size and scope.
"She is definitely going to be better on better ground and will probably head to Far Hills in America next.
“We are going to assemble a team for the American National Day and there is a three year old hurdle that Gordon (Elliott) won last year. That is the middle of October."
