Flood and Flynn win Amateur National The Connolly's Red Mills Conyngham Cup Handicap Chase, run at Punchestown today, has been rebranded as the 'Amateur National' in recent weeks and the staying chase proved a nice 'shop window' for jockey Jamie Flynn, successful on winner Too Late To Sell. Flynn produced the winner to lead after two out and from there the gelding maintained the gallop to comfortably beat Carry Each Other. Winning trainer Francis Flood, making a welcome appearance to a racecourse, later stated “the lad's (Jamie Flynn) 7lbs claim was a big help and he's a good rider who you could see him making it as a professional. “He stayed well and and he had won here over this trip earlier this season.” The Gold Cup winning trainer later added “I rode the winner of this race once and I think I've trained the winner about five times so it's been a lucky race for us!” By Thomas Weekes, quotes from Alan Magee.
