Thankfully American Image and Aileen O’Sullivan (a possibility she’ll have to go for x-rays) were relatively okay after their horrible last flight fall in the Kells Novice Handicap Hurdle at Navan. This event went the way of Five Helmets for Gavin Cromwell and Conor Maxwell.

On his handicap hurdle debut, Five Helmets, for last week’s dual Cheltenham winning trainer, Cromwell, followed up on a Fairyhouse maiden win from seventeen days ago.

He did so convincingly too, by five lengths from Hazran

“I spoke to Johnny (Moore) about the horse this morning and he said he gave him a hell of a feel the last day and on the better ground he reckoned he’d have a good chance today,” said Maxwell.

“His jumping needed to sharpen up and he never put a foot wrong. The last one down the back he got a bit underneath it and I took my time and got a blow into him.

“In fairness he pricked his ears at the back of the last and went on again. He’s a nice horse going forward.”

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Presenting Dylan trained by Mrs Denise Foster, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
