Youceeyouceecee surprised connections with a fifth career success at Roscommon today as the Susan Finn trained mudlark landed the Eurona BriskNet Handicap (div 1) by scarcely getting his ankles dirty.
Youceeyouceecee's previous wins were gained on heavy, almost knee-deep ground conditions and following just 1mm rain overnight and some light drizzle through the day, the gelding's fifth win today was gained on ground described as 'soft'.
The son of Rock Of Gibraltar was guided to victory by able apprentice Killian Leonard and afterwards Limerick native Finn, now based in Mallow, later admitted “that's actually a surprise as I thought the ground was too quick for him. He wants it deep but loose.
“It has to rain the day before - he's odder than myself!
“He's been working well at home and the health was good and everything but he actually quickened today and I was very surprised by it.
“We'll hopefully go to Listowel now. The owner is from there so it's very important we go there. I was a bit worried that he was getting down a bit in the handicap but he'll be okay now for the big race on the Tuesday.”
