Punk Poet made all for a 20/1 win in the Buy Annual Membership Today Handicap at Cork today, scoring for trainer Eddie Lynam, his wife owner/breeder Aileen Lynam and jockey Declan McDonogh.

The son of Power led the 17 runner field throughout and while edging left in the home straight, stayed on well for pressure when holding Yermanthere by half a length.

It was Punk Poet's fifth career win and a third under McDonogh, who later said “he gets a length out of the gates and it is a front-runners track but he never turned a bend for me. He was lugging left the whole way and even in the last 100 yards I was struggling to keep him on the rail.

“The straight seven would suit him really well and he is good at that grade.”
