Fashaar makes it a quick double for McCann Following on from Togoville's win in the preceding heat, Anthony McCann quickly doubled up at Dundalk with Fashaar in the Hydroscand Ireland Ltd Handicap. Pat Smullen rode Togoville but it was young Andrew Slattery that was aboard Fashaar (7/1 into 4/1). Fashaar disputed, before leading after a furlong and a half. Pressed two furlongs out, Fashaar was ridden a furlong and a half out, keeping on well under pressure in the final furlong to oblige by half a length from Diable d'Or. "I always loved this horse from day one, and I think he'll prefer grass," stated McCann. "The tactics didn't work out, as I wanted to drop him in to get some cover but he was a little bit keen. "Andrew gave him a superb ride and he's one of a group of good young riders coming along at the moment. "Big thanks to my staff, and the physio Sharon Kelly came in on Tuesday to give them all a rub and they are all in good form." G.P. Halpin, rider of Rise Again trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly. (AM & EM)
