Farragher rides his first winner Where many others had failed in the past Adam Farragher succeeded on 20-race maiden Mostawfee, as the 10Ib claimer scored his first win in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Handicap. Shane Duffy and Ado McGuinness had the third, fourth, fifth and sixth home here, but it was Baby Bellini for Iggy Madden and Danny Sheehy that gave Mostawfee most to do. At the line the John Feane-trained 14/1 chance Mostawfee had half a length and a nose to spare over Baby Bellini and Multiviz. Farragher is eighteen and hails from Skibbereen in County Cork. "He has run well a couple of times up here," stated Feane. "We gave Adam a chance on him and he gave him a great ride. I think that's only his tenth ride and he has a winner now, three seconds and a third. "He's only learning, he never sat on a horse until this time last year, and came out of RACE. He's doing well and I'm delighted for him." Cresendo bolted before the start. The 12/1 chance was withdrawn and there was a 5 Cent Rule 4 to board prices only. The Stewards fined I.Madden, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Baby Bellini, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order. D.J.Barry, trainer of Qasser, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge scoped wrong post race. The Stewards interviewed D.J.Barry, trainer of Qasser, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule 32 (ii) and having taken his clean record into account cautioned him. (GC & EM)
