Famous comes good on better ground A fine leap at the last sealed things for Name Me Famous as he sprang a 22/1 shock in the MJ Finnegan's Handicap Hurdle at Limerick. The Eoin McCarthy-trained gelding had pulled up over fences on heavy ground at Clonmel early last month and left that run well behind. Richie Deegan had his mount prominent throughout in the two-miler but there were four in a line going to the second last flight. The Famous Name gelding jumped into a narrow lead at the last and kept on well on the run-in to record a three-parts-of-a-length win over Sequoiaspirit. "He always showed ability at home and the change in ground probably helped,” said McCarthy. "He looks like a big winter horse but I'd say he gets away on better ground and cheek-pieces and tongue-tie were a big help. He was catching his wind on sticky ground when pulling up over fences the last day. "We'll see what the handicapper does and he'll keep going for the summer." (Quotes by Tom Weekes)
