Fame And Acclaim followed up his win at Cork last Sunday by defying top-weight again over a mile in the Evoke.ie Premier Handicap at the Curragh.

The 7/2 favourite challenged the always prominent Frank Arthur a furlong out and kept on well for Declan McDonogh to hold that rival by half a length, with Mythologic finishing best of all the same distance further back in third.

Winning trainer Joseph O’Brien was represented by his assistant Brendan Powell who said, “He’d a lot of weight and is improving. Declan said he just does enough all the time and he knows him well now.

“He said it got a bit rough early on so he had to pull out of it. He’s a horse that you just want to arrive there late. When he gets there he pricks his ears.

“He’s a big horse and his last three runs he’s improved every time. He probably deserves to have a go at a Stakes race but we’ll leave that to Joseph.”
