Sam Ewing’s many followers got a juicy 40/1 pay-day when the Nigel Slevin-trained Ecliptic Moon came out on top in the DundalkStadium.com Handicap (DIV II).
In as the second reserve the Zebedee three-year-old got a nice run down the inner to beat Kinch by half a length.
The gambled on favourite Magic Charm (5/2 from 5/1, and bigger earlier) had to make do with fourth place.
“The plan was to get up there with the pace. He was very comfortable at the pace we went and was very straight forward,” reported Ewing.
“I got a lovely split up the inner and he’s ran out a nice winner in the end. He’s a grand sort going forward and I’m delighted for Nigel.”
G.M. Ryan, rider of Magic Charm trained by Miss Natalia Lupini, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.
O.J. Orr, rider of Lansing trained by David Marnane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount went left after the stalls opened.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Magic Charm, trained by Miss Natalia Lupini, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal, samples were taken for analysis.
