Enright powers home on Hot Hot Friend stayed on stoutly down the straight to land the spoils in the handicap chase at Tipperary for Robert Tyner. Philip Enright sent his mount for home entering the straight in the two-and-a-half mile contest and he galloped on resolutely. He recorded a three-length victory over Kilbane River. The last fence was omitted due to the fall of Fitzgutentyte. The winner is owned by the nine-member Blackrock Inn Syndicate and was having his third run for the successful trainer. Disappointing 7/4 favourite Tommy Turkle, a well-beaten ninth, was reported to have burst a blood vessel.
