Thyestes winner Gordon Elliott completed a double at Gowran today as his newcomer Edene D'arc landed the concluding P.J. Foley Memorial Bumper under jockey Declan Lavery.
The French bred daughter of Maresca Sorrento is a half-sister to the yard's nine-time and Grade 2 winner Ball D'arc but went to post an unfancied 14/1 chance.
In the race, Edene D'arc took the lead in the home straight and at the line proved too strong for 11/10 favourite Young Ted
Afterwards Elliott, whose Monbeg Notorious earlier won the featured Thyestes Chase, stated “she has to be a good filly as that's only her second piece of work.
“I initially had nothing to run in the race, and wanted to have a runner obviously. She did one bit of work at home and that's only her second ever bit of work. She's never been on grass and could be anything because she has nothing done.
“There is a lot of improvement in her and she's a filly for next year and loved the ground.”
