There was a tremendous conclusion to the second division of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown. Inforapenny eventually just followed up on his win here from a couple of years back to triumph for owner/breeder Pat McCarthy and trainer Mark Fahey.

Well-backed favourite Hypersonic Missile (4s into 5/2) had every chance and battled well but couldn't quite match winner Inforapenny. Aidan Kelly forced the latter home by a head.

"He's won two races and he actually won this race two years ago," commented Fahey.

"He really needs the ground quick.

"He was second over fences the last day in Clonmel on quick ground and we said we would come back here hoping for quick ground. I was a bit nervous last night when the rain was meant to come and thank God it didn't come. He wouldn't have been where he finished today.

"It's great that a horse like him can get the opportunity to run on that ground which is important.

"We are delighted for Pat McCarthy, he's a great owner and a great man. He loves this horse.

"Great ride by Aidan - we just said cheekpieces on him, no nonsense and go on."
