Dunguib of Philip Fenton's followed up on his recent Cheltenham Festival Bumper win with an equally impressive performance when he landed The Paddy Power Champion I.N.H Flat Race under Brian O'Connell for owners Daniel Hartnett and Mrs E A Lawlor.
O'Connell raced the Presenting gelding in behind the leaders, improved to lead approaching straight, clear from 2f out and kept on well to win by a comfortable 9 lengths.
Fenton said afterwards, "Whatever weight he lost since his last run he's put it back on. He's the whole package. The 3rd horse Luska Lad ran a great race. I thought it would be a game of tactics he was in front a bit sooner than we would have liked. When you squeeze him up he just has so much in reserve."
Fenton also revealed, "We will go novice hurdling with him next season, we schooled him over hurdles after Cheltenham and he jumps really well."
William Hill have quoted Dunguib as 4/1 favourite from 5/1 for the 2010 Williamhill.com Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.
