Duchess brings up cross card Cromwell brace After his Downpatrick success with Darver Star Gavin Cromwell completed another good day’s work when Duchess Ravenwaves landed the Racing Again 29th August (Ladies) Handicap at Tipperary. Aine O’Connor did the steering on the successful daughter of Harbour Watch. Backed from 6/1 into 4/1 Duchess Ravenwaves kept on strongly inside the final furlong to beat Danehill Quest by two and three parts of a length. "The ground is key to her as she needs soft or heavy so we were praying for rain and we got plenty of it. Off her mark of 60 we thought she would be good enough for a race like this but she is ground dependent," said Cromwell representative Feidhlim Cunningham. "They went quick but she stays well and there might be another race for her on the flat. She is 110 over hurdles and we have plenty of options going forward. Aine is a good asset in the race like that as well." The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Walkabout, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Ms M. Kelly, rider of Welcometomyworld trained by Sabrina J. Harty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount was in season. (TW & EM)
