Not for the first time this afternoon there was late drama at Tipperary, with Dutch Schultz eventually just prevailing in the concluding Packie Downey Memorial Rated Novice Chase.

Having jumped well throughout at the head of affairs under Rachael Blackmore, Mayors Walk (10/11f) was still in front when crashing out at the last.

Challenging in second at the time, Dutch Schultz himself blundered badly and while left in front, he was soon strongly pressed and joined by Bua Boy

The pair had a great scrap on the run-in, with Dutch Schultz gaining the upper hand in the dying strides, prevailing by a head.

Returned an easy-to-back 5/2 chance (from 6/4 early), the bay victor was completing a quick double for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue, while also ending a run of four consecutive second place finishes.

Hampered by the melee at the last, Bua Boy lost little in defeat and was returned an 11/2 chance (14's early) under Daniel King for Denis Hogan.

Donoghue, who won the previous contest aboard Theonewedreamof said: "He's been knocking on the door a good few times. He settled well today and had to battle well after missing the last.

"It's brilliant for the lads (the Bootlegger Syndicate) that he's won. They have been here after days when he's been second and it’s great to get them a winner."
