Conor McNamara gained consecutive wins for his sponsor, owner John Battersby today, steering the Henry De Bromhead trained Downtown Queen (5/1) to win Limerick's Aqua Process Solutions (Mares) Rated Novice Hurdle.

The daughter of Presenting was a Downpatrick maiden hurdle winner for McNamara in June and today made all, jumping boldly, to beat Daisy Dufresne by two and a half lengths.

Brave Way was a winner in the Honeysuckle colours for De Bromhead and stable jockey Rachael Blackmore yesterday and following today's success McNamara stated “I'm sponsored by John Battersby, a very nice man from Dublin, who has a glass recycling business (Batt Glass).

"John owns the mare with a few lads and I'm delighted he kept me on the mare. He also has Frontline Worker with Henry and Eabha Grace with Willie Mullins.”

McNamara added “she is dynamite to jump, has loads of scope and was big and bold at a few. I sat on her over the last two as she didn't need encouragement at any stage. She can be incredibly long at her hurdles and will be better over a fence.

“She was plenty keen, raced with the choke out the whole way but I love how much she found for pressure. She is a lovely, old fashioned mare and that was a great race and was well picked out by Henry. With a bit of luck she can keep going forward from here.”

Bred by Ken Parkhill, Downtown Queen is a half-sister to three black-type performers.
