Downey delight as Three Bells wins again The Pat Downey trained Three Bells scored his second win in three days and an eighth career success when landing the concluding Magners Light Handicap at Down Royal today, under in-form jockey Gary Carroll. Three Bells was a winner at Naas on Wednesday under Carroll, who himself was claiming a fourth winner in three days and a sixth of the month, including a Group 3 win on Queen Catrine. Following Three Bells’ win, Downey stated “that’s job done! He's as tough as boots and that's seven wins in different tracks and eight in total. He's not a nice horse to train but he's a lovely horse to race and we’re delighted! “The plan was Wednesday (in Naas) and today was just a bonus. I couldn't leave it (the race) even though he was 1lb wrong (at the weights). "I'm not going to Galway - there's other races for him, Galway is not the be all. Maybe Naas the Monday after Galway would be far more attractive for us. "Gary (Carroll) would win on a donkey at the minute!” By Tom Weekes, quotes from Michael Graham
