Thomas Dowling is hopeful of a big show from Mullacash Buzz in the apprentice handicap at Gowran Park this afternoon.

The War Command gelding gave the Naas handler his first winner at Dundalk last November and has proven a star for the small yard, adding two subsequent victories.

He was well beaten on softer ground at Bellewstown on his most recent start and Dowling is hoping he can bounce back to form today.

Speaking after saddling Starlight Rose to win at Down Royal last night he said:-

"He has his ground back. The only question mark I have with him is that it is the first time he is going right-handed. I always had it in my head he needed to go left.

"The track will suit him and the trip will suit him. He's in the right grade and he will definitely get his ground.

"Jack (Cleary) does all the riding work at home with myself and (my partner) Nicola, he is brilliant. He would have ridden this filly here (Starlight Rose in Down Royal) only for the weight was so low.

"We were tempted to stick Mullacash Buzz into Galway but we decided not to and looking at the entries he wouldn't have got in off 61 anyway."

Mullacash Buzz is currently a 7/1 shot for the first division of the Lyrath Estate Hotel & MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre Ladies Day 2022 Apprentice Handicap.
