Dovlator finished off best of all to land the opportunity maiden hurdle at Down Royal.

Dermot McLoughlin 's charge was still fourth at the last but galloped home strongly to lead inside the final furlong. He went on by three and three quarter lengths at 16/1. Kelly's Birr (7/2) could give no more in second once headed but was two and a quarter lengths clear of Bout Time Bobby (13/2).

Jockey Paddy O'Hanlon said: "He stayed going in fairness to him but maybe the race in front collapsed a bit, they've gone a good gallop. My lad stayed galloping to the line.

"I had sat on him a couple of times at home but the last day in Downpatrick was the first time I had ridden him. He gave me a nice feel.

"He was slicker today and has done it well."
