Double for Lyons as System delivers System Overload completed a double on the card for Ger Lyons (sixth winner of the week) as he justified favouritism in the Nathan Carter At The Derby Festival Maiden, scoring under Gary Carroll. The Sean Jones owned son of Verglas ran a cracker on his debut over the course last October and he then finished a somewhat unlucky second on his seasonal reappearance at Naas in April. Sent off the 11/10 favourite here he was prominent in the early stages before being settled in second. He improved to lead three furlongs from home, he was ridden two furlongs out and he kept on well from there to score comfortably by three and a half lengths. Tarziyna (7/2) finished second under Declan McDonogh for John Oxx, while Leliani was a further six and a half lengths back in third under Pat Smullen for Dermot Weld at 4/1. Ger Lyons said afterwards: "He is a nice horse and I’ve always liked him. He caught the eye here last year when fifth on his debut. "I nearly pulled him out today because of the ground and you can see what a good moving horse he is. "We will definitely have some fun with him over ten furlongs."
