Denmark overcomes greenness to make winning debut Denmark looked a colt of some potential when overcoming inexperience to run out a decisive winner of the Weatherbys GSB Irish EBF(C&G) Maiden at Naas. The Ballydoyle trained newcomer was held up in mid-division early doors, before jockey Ryan Moore produced the son of Camelot with a challenge at the furlong pole. Even then, he looked as though lack of racing experience would prove his downfall, as View Taken and Dubawi Spectre battled for the lead. However, despite obvious greenness, the colt quickened up smartly under Moore to put daylight between himself and his rivals at the line. Giving the impression that he would benefit enormously from this introduction, Denmark looks one who should be a totally different horse with this experience under his belt. “We're delighted with him. He's a big baby still, obviously, as you can see,” said Aidan O'Brien. “He just spooked at the road, he was just very green and babyish but I'd say he's a lovely horse. He's a fine big fella. “We'll go gently with him and give him a little bit of time now. We couldn't be happier with him.” Paddy Power introduced Denmark into their Epsom Derby betting at 33-1.
