Aidan O'Brien made it five from seven with his juveniles this season as Deneuve got up to deprive Commanche Country in the fillies' maiden at Naas. Comanche Country raced prominently and took over before halfway in this extended five furlong sprint.

Deneuve was close up and was asked by Ryan Moore to try and tackle Comanche Country approaching the final furlong.

The leader kept finding off the front for Conor Maxwell and was ridden to try and win her race with 150 yards to travel.

Moore rode his mount on terms close home, though, and the 13/8 favourite got the verdict by a short head on the line from the 18/1 runner-up. La Dolce Vita was well backed down to 9/4 and came in a length and a half behind in third.

O’Brien said: “We were debating whether she was ready to run or not but let her run.

“It’s nice to get her started and we’ll give her two or three weeks and go back for a winners’ race.

“She’s a nice mover and has natural ability. Ryan said anything could happen after that. She could be anything.” Additional reporting by Alan Magee
