De Bromhead & Lynch Scoop up novice “He was supposed to win at Galway but I think that makes up for it!” said Henry De Bromhead after teaming up with stable jockey Andrew Lynch to take the Listed INH Stallion Owners EBF Novice Hurdle with Too Scoops. The five-year-old gelding is owned by the Dumb Dumb Syndicate, a group of Paddy Power Bookmaker employees, and apparently the syndicate name is derived from a cocktail which “helps you get through the week at Galway!” Rory O’Moore took up his customary role in front but, after a number of sketchy jumps, was headed by the 6/1 winner approaching the second last. Balnaslow was soon in trouble following a mistake at this point, and Lynch’s mount kept on well in the straight to account for Rory O’Moore by three and a half lengths. Captain Arceus was a further six and a half lengths adrift in third, with Balnaslow in fourth. A lot of interest was removed from this two-mile event beforehand with the absence of likely favourite Waaheb (off feed) as well as Shrapnel (lame) and Foxrock (overreach). De Bromhead said, “He jumped brilliant, although Andrew said he was off it going across the bottom. They went some gallop. “He’s entered in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown but we’ll see what the lads want to do.”
