Dawn Approach among Naas entries Juveniles will take centrestage at Naas on Bank Holiday Monday, June 4 when the Community and Family Raceday will feature three Listed races, two of which are for two-year-olds. The Jim Bolger-trained Dawn Approach heads the entry of 15 for the Alfred Nobel Rochestown Stakes, with David Wachman’s smart Leopardstown winner Cougar Ridge another to take the eye among an entry of 15. There is a strong English entry in both juvenile Listed events including the Coolmore Stud EBF (Fillies) Sprint Stakes, where Sky Lantern and Equitania represent Richard Hannon. The Owenstown Stud Stakes looks a wide open affair with 14 entries currently for this seven furlongs event. The family day is sponsored by Storm Cinema (Naas) & UCI Cinema (Newbridge), and among the free attractions available are go-karts, bouncy castles and the kid’s club with crèche facilities. Kids spot prizes will also be on offer, notably a voucher for a mountain bike and runner-up prizes of bowling vouchers, Storm Cinema passes, Barker & Jones books, Playbarn vouchers & much more. Local musician Derek Cunningham will provide the pre-race entertainment with his lively jazz music. Naas manager Tom Ryan said: “We are very excited about our Family Raceday. With the support of Storm Cinema (Naas) & UCI Cinema (Newbridge) we hope to make it a memorable day’s entertainment. "A day’s racing at Naas on Monday the 4th of June will be a perfect way for all the family to have an exciting conclusion to the Bank Holiday Weekend.” The first race is off at 2.25pm and admission is €15 (includes €5 betting voucher). There is a special Family Package for €20 (Two Adults with children under 18 and also includes €10 betting voucher). OAP’s pay €9 (including free tea/coffee), while under 18’s and students under 26 are free (valid student card required). The Panoramic Restaurant Package at €40 includes admission, racecard, main course, reserved table and tea/coffee.
