Dasheen came with a well-timed run inside the final furlong to claim the second division of the seven-furlong handicap at Tipperary.

The gelding, trained by Lady Jane Gillespie in County Tyrone, was settled behind the leaders before being produced with a challenge a furlong-and-a-half from home by Billy Lee.

The 10/1 shot wore down Punches Pious inside the final furlong to record a half length success.

Dasheen was making his first start for Gillespie having previously been with Mark Johnston in England.

“They were confident that he'd run a good race and like the ground,” Lee told At The Races afterwards.

“He came out of Mark Johnston's and done everything bar win in England. He had the bit of form in the book.

“He travelled lovely all the way round and he got there, ground it out well in the ground.

“He has ability and it might not be the next day but he'll definitely win another race or two for them during the year. He'll be a fun horse to have.”
