Danny Mullins doubled up at Clonmel in the Clonacody (C & G) Maiden Hurdle, gaining a nose success for his mother Mags aboard Julies Stowaway
The 124-rated 6/4 shot just got the better of his market rival Fissa (7/5 favourite) after pair had fought out a fantastic battle in the straight.
Mullins had earlier taken the opener for John Ryan aboard Bonarc
Julies Stowaway didn’t always impress in the jumping department early on but was good when required towards the business end.
"It was good and he is still a novice for the season now which is a positive,” said the winning rider.
“It was more competitive than we were expecting as the Gigginstown horse (Fissa) was ok and probably improved. Giving away the bumper winners' penalty is always difficult but I'm glad to get the job done and it's onwards and upwards."
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Shumard trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left up the straight.
