Clever Currency made all the running to record an impressive victory in the opening Broadford Maiden Hurdle at Limerick.
Keith Donoghue bounced out in front on the Red Jazz gelding and Paul Flynn's charge produced a fine round of jumping at the head of affairs.
The 17/2 shot (4/1 in morning) had his rivals at work early in the straight and produced a bold leap at the final flight as he shot clear to record an 11-length win over Buzz Light
Clever Currency was making his fourth start over timber having shown improvement last time when chasing home Ya Ya Baby at Cork.
"Denis (O'Regan) rode him the last day and was meant to ride him but he thought McBratney's horse (Gallaside, unplaced) had a bit better form and rode him so I'm glad he got it wrong!,” said Flynn.
"He was very weak and backward last year and was a complete idiot and took a long time to grow up. His jumping is the key to him, but I think he will also do a job in a 0-65 (flat handicap).
"My sister Rebecca owns him with Dave Dowling and a syndicate and I'm glad he has won for them as I have given them a few bad horses up to now.
“This looked another bad one up until now, but he's a grand horse."
11/10 favourite Easca Peasca could finish only fifth after crying enough going to the second last.
