After his win with Demophon in the preceding race at Down Royal, Gavin Cromwell completed an across the card double with Ujumpthelastuwin in the Eoin O'Gorman Solicitors Maiden Hurdle at Wexford.
Local Adamstown man Johnny Moore was aboard Ujumpthelastuwin, and his confidence in the six-year-old Multiplex gelding proved well justified.
This two miler for previously unplaced horses, saw Ujumpthelastuwin lead from two out before comfortably scoring by a length and a quarter and four lengths from Sunday At Julia’s and Rebel Gold
Ujumpthelastuwin was supported down to 7/4 favouritism at the off, whilst the win of stable companion Demophon at Down Royal was much less expected. That fellow went off at 33/1.
It’s a week since Cromwell and Moore filled the third spot in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham with Darver Star and yard representative Feidhlim Cunningham said: “I suppose he was entitled to do that off his mark of 114.
“It wasn’t the greatest race in the world, for unplaced maidens, but Johnny gave him a lovely patient ride and took his time on that ground.
“I don’t think his mark will change too much after that so we’ll find a handicap and he’s one for chasing in the future.”
