Cromwell double-handed in Cheltenham cross-country Gavin Cromwell is set to be double-handed in the Glenfarclas Crystal Cup Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on Friday. Both Stumptown and Vanillier will take their chance in the three-mile-five test. The former has won on his last two outings over the banks course at Punchestown while Vanillier was sixth behind his stablemate on his debut in the discipline 19 days ago. Speaking at Punchestown on Tuesday Cromwell said:- “They are both going. They've never been around the cross-country there before, they've both been around Punchestown but it's a different test. I don't see why they won't take to it.” When it was put to him that Stumptown has taken really well to cross-country racing he added:- “He has, absolutely, and Vanillier took to it reasonably well here the last day. He should improve for the run here the last day. Obviously it's a different test at Cheltenham.”
