Amateur jockey Robbie McNamara warmed up for the Cheltenham Festival, with a double at Fairyhouse today, taking the concluding Follow Fairyhouse On Facebook Bumper on the Michael Hourigan trained Crash
McNamara, who is likely to be in demand from trainers in the amateur races at Cheltenham, is also set to partner Rite Of Passage, favourite for the Neptune Novices Hurdle, was recording his third racecourse double, having partnered New Phase to win an earlier hurdle today.
Crash, a point to point winner on his only previous start at Dromahane in December made most of the running before recording an impressive three and a half lengths win.
Hourigan was absent, but Eddie O'Leary, brother of Michael O'Leary, owner (Gigginstown Stud) of Crash later stated “Crash won a point to point and jumping is his game – he'll go out in a field now for the summer and come back hurdling.”
