On his first start over hurdles in just over two years, Keep It Cool sprang a 25/1 surprise as he took the Dawn Milk Run Handicap Hurdle for his trainer Ken Condon with Eddie O'Connell in the saddle.
The last time the 8yo son of Spinning World ran over hurdles he won and that was at the Killarney July Festival of 2010 when he was trained by Pat O’Donnell.
Since his win in 2010 he had been racing on the level and won three races at Dundalk during that period.
Back over hurdles this afternoon he chased the leaders early before improving from four out.
He hit the front at the third last and kept on well from there to record a comfortable three and a half-length success over the 5/2 favourite Saint Gervais for John Kiely and Andrew McNamara.
The Charlie Swan trained Tribes And Banner finished a further length and a half back in third at 4/1 under Paul Townend.
The winner was carrying bottom weight of just 10 stone in comparison to the runner-up who had to saddle top weight of 11-12.
After the race bookmakers Stan James shortened the runner-up Saint Gervais for the Galway Hurdle from 16/1 into 14/1.
Well fancied duo Absolutlyfantastic and Zershan were both taken out earlier in the day due to the ground while Rodriguez was also a non-runner.
