Class double for Mullins at Tramore French recruit Class Conti (9/2 into 11/4) impressed in the featured Tom Murphy Car Sales Race Day 31st May Chase to give Willie Mullins a Tramore double. Earlier on the mark with the Ruby Walsh-ridden Ontheropes in the two mile five furlong maiden hurdle, here the Closutton maestro saddled three runners in a race where only two ultimately managed to complete. Walsh’s mount Pylonthepressure fell at the fence in front of the stands with a circuit to go and it was Class Conti that really put his stamp on this extended two mile five event from the second last. Paul Townend’s mount careered away to defeat Beyond The Law by twenty three lengths. "He is a nice recruit," said Mullins. "He had lost his way in France and his owner just decided to send him over here to try a different type of racing. "It looked like he wanted another three furlongs. It took Paul nearly two miles to get him going and then in the last five furlongs he started to race. "Hopefully he will keep going and we will mix it between hurdles and fences, but he looks more a chaser, a three mile chaser. "I don't know where we will go next with him. Punchestown might be a bit soon but there might be something after that for him." (DM & EM)
