Dreams Delivered (12/1) won the first division of the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap by a short head in the hands of apprentice Jamie Powell.
The Morpheus gelding, previously a winner over 6f at Fairyhouse as a 2-year-old, sat second to early leader Kilmallock Lady before heading that one a furlong and a half from home. International Lady (6/1) came out of the pack to give chase in the final furlong but, despite running around in front, the winner just did enough to hold on.
It was a fifth winner for Powell whose breakthrough victory came on board Johnny Murtagh’s Threebagsfull at Bellewstown back in July.
Winning trainer Darren Bunyan said: “Thank-God, that's the first photo we've came out the right side of all year!
“I've never had as many seconds since I started training. Even the other day we had two of them fighting out a finish up the Curragh and we ended up second and third.
“I'm delighted with this lad, he's a very versatile horse as he goes on heavy ground on the grass and loves this surface up here.
“He's a horse we'll have plenty of fun with here over the winter. He'll tip away here and he might even jump a hurdle in time but we'll concentrate on the Flat for now.
“Jamie (Powell) is fantastic value for his 7lb, he's ridden a bit for us lately and he's an old head on young shoulders. He has impressed me a lot on any horse he's rode for us so far.
“He's a young lad with a very bright future. Not just because he won tonight, they always do things right when they win but I think he's a kid going places.”
