The 9/2 favourite Chally Chute benefitted from a ground-saving ride by Jamie Powell to land the Hollywoodbets.ie Handicap.

The in-form claimer never moved far away from the rail and got a clear run on the inner inside the final quarter-mile. The four-year-old chestnut hit the front under a furlong out and scored by a length and a half from Magnetic North with a further half length back to Wajaaha Queen Of Seduction rewarded each-way backers in fourth.

Winning trainer Michael Halford said: “He's getting better with racing. He had a setback as a three-year-old and we just had to wait for him, he's improving all the time.

“He handled Dundalk well when he won up there but I wasn't too worried about this ground with him being by Fast Company. It was a nice race and a nice track for him.

“Jamie was very cool on him, the plan wasn't to be that far back on him but he rode him for luck and it happened.

“I'm delighted for Jamie to ride a winner for us, his Dad (Anthony) was a great friend of mine and his grand-mother actually taught me to ride. I spent a lot of time out in Powells' as a kid.
