Cavite Beta on the way back Cavite Beta readily picked off Il Fenomeno in Killarney as he took the beginners’ chase in Killarney for Jim Dreaper and Andrew Lynch. Once Il Fenomeno had grasped the lead he went clear of Cavite Beta, but after jumping the fourth last the latter closed right up on the former. Cavite Beta duly passed his rival at the second last and kept up the gallop to win this two mile one contest by a comfortable six lengths and justify 6/4 favouritism. Il Fenomeno came in second at 11/4. Jim Dreaper said: “I’m delighted to get him back. He showed a bit of promise two years ago, but then he had leg trouble. He had a nice comeback run over hurdles in Sligo. “Fortunately this was the plan. Mr Potts loves this meeting nearly above Cheltenham and he loves to have winners here. I think he’ll go on any ground bar heavy. “We’ll maybe look at handicaps for him. Two and a half might be what he needs or a fast run two miles.” Prior to that run in Sligo on August 7th where he finished second, Cavite Beta had been off track since finishing fourth at Cheltenham in October 2012.
