It was 'on the bob' in the CX Sport Claiming Race at Dundalk and it was joint favourite Carvelas (11/4) that emerged on top.

Gavin Ryan did the steering on Carvelas for Pat Murphy and at the line the well-backed runner was a nose up on Six Silver Lane

There was a break of three and three parts of a length to Zaofu in third.

Derek Leonard (from Mullingar, heads up the winning Partnership) and he said: "Carvelas is one of the first horses that Pat had, and I've got four horses since with Pat - two myself and two that I've set up syndicates since Christmas. I have brought in about six new faces that never owned a horse before.

"Pat is one hell of a trainer and a sound man. We have enjoyed great success with the likes of Koybig and Hit The Silk."

Carvelas was claimed for 6,000 Euros and will be trained in the UK by John Jenkins

The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the home turn involving New Story (GB), ridden by S. Foley, Catchy Lass ridden by C.J. McGovern, Carvelas, ridden by G.M. Ryan, and Mubtakker (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, where it appeared that interference may have occurred.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.

Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.

The Stewards interviewed A.J. Farragher, rider of Six Silver Lane (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that A.J. Farragher was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and force, and Regulation 10.3 (g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height.

Having considered his previous record in this regard, the Stewards suspended A.J. Farragher for 2 racedays and ordered that he attend R.A.C.E for 1 day's tuition on the correct use of the whip.

S. Foley, rider of New Story (GB) trained by Michael Butler, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got tight for room at the bottom of the straight and was tiring at the finish.
