Gary Carroll completed a 437/1 treble when giving Big Baby Bull (12/1) a peach of a ride to win the concluding 7f handicap.
Held up in rear of mid-division on the inner, the winning of the race was the run up the inner that Carroll secured coming to the two furlong marker. After the headway made once availing of that opportunity, Carroll switched his mount out to tackle Rick Dalton and the six-year-old edged past that rival in the closing stages to score by half a length.
Carroll's earlier winners were Gordon Bennett and Pirate Jenny
Last in the winners' enclosure after landing a premier handicap for Denis Hogan on Irish Derby weekend two years ago, the Tagula gelding was making a victorious debut for Michael Mulvany.
The latter said: “I have the horse a few weeks and it’s probably a change of scenery that has sparked him up. He worked well at home for me a few times and we were very confident coming here.
“We were expecting a big run but until he did it on the racetrack you never know as he was down the field his last couple of runs. He works an awful lot better than that but we are only learning about him.
“We will probably go to Galway next week with him.”
