Co Clare trainer Denis Quinn made the long journey up to Dundalk worthwhile when his charge Captain Coke landed the [email protected] Handicap.
Ben Curtis who took the riding honours was in front from halfway and kept on well inside the final furlong to hold off the fast finishing Sampers by half a length.
Winning trainer Quinn reported afterwards: "The horse was in great form and he needs good ground so we thought he'd run well."
"My brother Peter who lives in America owns the horse. We breezed him here in June but he wasn't making enough so my brother bought him back."
"We've always thought he was a very nice horse and i'm just thrilled that he won."
