Caffrey completes another Dundalk double Adam Caffrey completed consecutive Friday Dundalk doubles today as the apprentice jockey steered the Hilary McLoughlin trained Macadam's Rock (10/1) to win the DundalkStadium.com Handicap. Caffrey completed a double for his employer Ado McGuinness at the venue last Friday and having won today's opener on Nigel Slevin's Miss Vizuen, added to his haul with Macadam's Rock, which was returning to form, Trainer McLoughlin's partner, and winning owner, Martin Ferris said "he was competitive when he was rated in the high 60s and 70s but lost his way. The last day Sam Ewing rode him and said to drop him to seven furlongs and to claim off him. “We watched the young lad (Caffrey) last Friday when he rode a double and he is good value for his 7lb claim. Taking the 7lb off was the key and whatever he gets, we'll be trying to take 7lb off again. By the time we find another race for him, I'd say Adam could be down to 5lb.” He added "I think the race fell his way, they went a good gallop and he got a nice slip up the inner. The plan was to see how he'd run and come back on Wednesday but that is now gone as Wednesday's race is for horses who weren't placed last time out. "He's a nice straightforward horse, we claimed him and he has won two, so we're delighted.” Quotes from Michael Graham
