The Terence O'Brien trained Aoibhe's Beau landed the opening www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle, for previously unplaced horses, at Tramore today as the six year old mare scored on her seventh racecourse attempt.
The daughter of Well Chosen did win a point to point at Ballindenisk last December and today made the breakthrough on the racecourse when scoring a head win under capable 7lbs claimer Kevin Brouder, over runner-up Crimson Chief
Afterwards Co Cork based O'Brien stated "I got her about this time last year when her owner was hoping to win a point-to-point and maybe sell her. She won her point-to-point well but we then couldn't find a buyer for her.
"The very heavy ground didn't suit her in bumpers and we said we'd give her a few runs over the summer and for one reason or another she didn't show what she was showing at home.
"We tried a tongue-strap today. There is nothing wrong with her wind but we just said we'd see would it do anything for her. Kevin (Brouder) said that she jumped brilliantly today and galloped all the way to the line. He thought that she had even a bit more left so she could go further."
"I wasn't surprised today, as she has the ability. I don't know what her owner wants to do, I'd presume he'll still try to sell her.
