Easy Boy completes a double for Shane Foley© Photo Healy Racing
Easy Boy has been one of the chief beneficiaries of Pat Martin's move to a yard near Navan, and the son of Rip Van Winkle backed up a promising reappearance at Ballinrobe last week by taking the Gerry Hughes Memorial Handicap at Bellewstown.
The 4/1 co favourite asserted well over a furlong out for Shane Foley, who was completing a double following the earlier success of Lehbab in the mile maiden.
The reformed three-year-old had nearly three lengths in hand at the line, with Plain Talking and Busy Bush filling the minor placings.
Martin said, "He was nearly not coming back into training this year as he was so disappointing. Last season he was a pure brat but since we moved yard he's turned inside out.
"He's a half-brother to Indiana Gal who is probably the best flat horse I've trained, and because of the way he ran last year he got a very low mark.
"He ran well at Ballinrobe, and Shane said he probably got there a bit early today. The owner (Tom Brennan) is at a wedding in Donegal so I'm sure he's celebrating up there."
