Bowe and O'Neill double up with Last Quarter Last Quarter was strong in the final couple of furlongs in Punchestown to seal a double for Colin Bowe and Barry O'Neill. He contested the four-year-old colts and geldings point-to-point bumper for horses that have not run in a race under any rules of racing or in a point-to-point chase. He was there to be shot at in the front rank three furlongs from home as a host of challengers loomed large in behind. Pay The Pilot came through on the inner to head Last Quarter as they travelled round the home bend. The new leader went on by a few lengths as Last Quarter came under a drive from O'Neill. Last Quarter (7/4f) picked up well to race past Pay The Pilot (10/3) coming to the final furlong and he toughed it out by a length and a half from the runner-up who came again. General Medrano challenged in the final furlong but dropped to third at 9/2. Bowe said: “He showed a good attitude. Barry said he just got caught a bit flat-footed but stayed on well. “He's a nice horse and he's for sale now.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
