Roger Charlton made the trip across the water worthwhile when his charge Border Patrol under Kevin Manning landed the Solonaway Stakes Group 3 for owners the Elite Racing Club.
Winning trainer Charlton said afterwards: “We’re delighted, we’ve always liked him and he’s progressed well. I think he’ll make a Group 1 horse in due course.”
“The Lockinge is a serious target for us next year. We could go to Longchamp Arc weekend next. Kevin said he was very happy with him and that he got there a little bit too soon and he idled in front.”
