Bolger and Manning complete 356/1 double with Solar Wave Jim Bolger and stable jockey Kevin Manning completed a quick 356/1 double as Solar Wave returned to form in the Naas Racecourse Launches The 2019 Irish Flat Season Handicap. The Bolger/Manning combination landed the previous six-furlong maiden with 20/1 chance Western Dawn, and 16/1 shot Solar Wave took the same route up the far rail. Indeed a low draw proved crucial in this six-furlong handicap with the first four home all drawn between stalls one and five. Manning’s mount, who won twice as a juvenile but failed to add to her tally in five outings last season, took a while to get going but made steady headway to lead early in the final furlong. She kept on strongly to ultimately score by a comfortable length and a half from the always prominent Arcanears, with Stanhope and Aurora Eclipse completing the places. Bolger said, “She has only one eye and that probably doesn’t help but when everything falls right for her she’s a nice type of filly. “Hopefully we’ll find another one for her.”
