Trainer Jim Bolger and jockey Kevin Manning combined for a double at Leopardstown today when Teoranta landed her maiden win in the Hudson Taylor Handicap.
Bolger and Manning gained a famous win with Dawn Approach in Tuesday's St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot and the pair were on the mark earlier today with Scintillula which recorded a straightforward win in her maiden. Teoranta, on the other hand, came out best in her handicap, which provided a few talking points.
The winner had a straightforward passage through the race edging ahead in the straight and passing the post a length and a half ahead of 25/1 Amazing Star Third placed and 11/10 favourite Edith Cowan was the unlucky loser in the race (a prime example of how stall number one can sometimes work to your disadvantage) having had to come from a long way back to take her never nearer placing.
After the win, Bolger stated “she (Teoranta) liked the better ground and will go for something similar. I bought the dam from Sheikh Mohammed and I wasn't able to get a win with her, but she had a few problems. You probably won't see Teoranta for a while as she needs some time between her races.”
