Bloomfield sprang something of a surprise when making a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at the Curragh.

The 14/1 chance collared Feathery inside the final furlong and stayed on strongly for Billy Lee to score by three and a quarter lengths. Roccia Bella kept on a further three and a half lengths back in third, while evens favourite set the pace but could find no extra from over a furlong out to finish fourth.

Winning trainer Willie McCreery, “She’s a big, raw filly and is just learning her trade. It is only in the last month that she has copped on to what she is doing.

“She did everything lovely, and I’d have no qualms going a mile and a half with her. Today was just to get her out and started, and she is a very game and honest filly.

“It’s the first horse that I've had for John (Connaughton, owner/breeder).”
