First-time blinkers certainly brought about the desired outcome with Sadler's Mark (a half-brother to 2011 Doncaster Leger hero Masked Marvel) as he came good from a low draw in the Guinness Time Handicap at Galway under Niall McCullagh.
Dermot 'Red' McLoughlin's charge wasn't ignored in the betting and despite being keen early he had enough left when called on for his effort in the straight.
Soon switched left to deliver his bid, the victorious Sadler's Wells gelding kept on well to beat Maundy Money by two and a quarter lengths.
McCullagh said: "Bringing him back in trip worked. The plan was to tuck him in and ride him for a bit of luck and it went nicely."
McLoughlin credited McCullagh when commenting: "He stays very well. Niall told us to put a set of blinds on him after getting down off him the last day. I was worried about the ground but he handled it well." (TW & EM)
