Whacker Clan was another popular Rachael Blackmore-partnered winner today at Ballinrobe, as the Henry De Bromhead trained point-to-point winner landed the Corrib Oil Beginners Chase.

Whacker Clan led at the third-last, was untidy at the next and 'long' at the last, but stayed well to comfortably beat Grangeclare Native

Four to one chance Whacker Clan received a fine reception and the Gold Cup winning jockey later said "he put in a great round of jumping although he was a little bit sketchy at the last.

"He won a point-to-point for John Halley and it's great that he's taken to jumping fences so well. He stays well and the cheekpieces just helped to sharpen him up."
