For Bill was made to work hard as she made a winning debut over hurdles at Clonmel.
Mikey O'Connor sent the three-time bumper winner to the front four from home in the mares event.
She was tackled after two out by Lady Roberta and that rival had a slight edge when she stumbled on landing at the final flight.
The pair fought it out on the run-in with For Bill always just holding the advantage for a half-length success.
"She had to work hard. Mikey said the ground was very tacky. A win is a win," said trainer Michael Winters.
"She was probably a little bit idle through the race and I think she may be better left handed.
"There is a mares' winners race at Mallow in January for her. We'll take it as it comes this season. She's a great jumper of a fence and will go chasing next year."
